I’m not much a fashion person, but putting it with comic books was really cool.
I think its cool what you guys said about the stark spider-man armor because when I read the civil war I felt like he was being manipulated.
PS My one complaint would be that your video was a little shaky. Were you using a tripod?

@DNAngel2009 – She is a counterpart of Supergirl from a parallel universe, hence the similar sounding name. As for generic names, there are also heroes named: Supergirl, Superman, Wonder Woman, Wonder Man, Power Man, Amazing Man, Mr. Terrific, Mr. Fantastic, Captain Marvel, Marvel Girl, Marvel Boy, Ms. Marvel, Power Boy, Wonder Girl and others. Just part of the kitchy fun of comics.

i can agree with all of them except for the spiderman black suit. he turned evil with that suit on, so it does match his character and personality of the time. otherwise enjoyable.

Hmm, my only problem is that yes, the mens’ bodies are idealized as well as the womens’, but compare Batman and Power Girl and one’s running around covered head to toe and the other is shoving her bosoms and legs everywhere.

Has anyone introduced Tim Gunn to Project Rooftop’s ongoing superhero costume redesign challenges?

@reconsiderlilith – Actually, I enjoy Black Canary’s costume (I just prefer her wearing boots and a zip up top rather than heels and a strapless top). And we both enjoyed Batwoman’s look, we just disagreed on which look we preferred (I like the modern one, natch). – Alan

@CrazySexyGeeksSeries i guess it depends on which one you’re talking about. thanks for clarifying. i was thinking back in black, civil war, and cartoons.

@amidecour
What about the Hulk?
The guy was ripping out of all of his clothes, except for his underwear.

@amidecour – Which is why we weren’t thrilled about Star Sapphire or Halle Berry’s outfit. Bare legs I don’t really mind with a character who is Superman’s equal in strength/invulnerability (armor’s not needed) and those pictures of Power Girl are almost all done by female artist Amanda Connor who is a fan of her look. Not saying you’re wrong, though. And it’s definitely true that there’s a bias/habit of showing more flesh on women than men (Gen13!). I think comics should fix that. – Alan

@CaptainTinTyrant – I’m a video editor and a visual arts guy. Macs are what work for me.

@supersexyass – The thing is, that’s only true for the cartoons and movies. In the COMICS, which is what we were talking about, Spider-Man had NO change in personality while wearing the symbiote. And what’s more, after getting rid of the alien symbiote, he then wore a cloth version of the black costume for roughly THREE YEARS afterward, simply because he was told it looked “sexier” than his red and blue threads. So for all that, we stand by what we said. – Alan

@xBlizzerx – You’re right to a degree but there are many women artists who depict women them that way. The POWER GIRL drawings shown were done by Amanda Conner, who LOVES her body & costume. A woman helped design Black Canary’s modern look (the first picture of her that I showed) and BIRDS OF PREY writer Gail Simone (another woman) LOVES that look and is insisting on its use. They’re the minority, definitely, but there are more women BEHIND these same comics than you might think. – Alan

When they talk about idealized physiques what they are forgetting is that the female form in comic books ideal physique is based on what men find appealing and attractive.
